The Role of Domestic Helpers (Nannies) in Child Care: A Comparative Analysis
Abstract
This research is based on the growing reliance on domestic helpers (nannies) for child care in India and compares its impact with findings from Saudi Arabia and Western countries. Through a review of available literature, the study focuses on how nannies affect children's cognitive, social and emotional development, parental concerns and family structure. The findings suggest that although nannies play an important role in child care, differences in their training and care practices affect child development outcomes. The paper highlights the need for professional nanny training programmes, increased parental awareness and effective child care policies.
